A Faster Way to Create, Assign, and Review
Teachers already have enough to think about during the day.
Planning lessons.
Supporting students.
Keeping track of assignments and feedback.
Navigation shouldn’t add to that.
This update reorganizes Speakable around the way many teachers already move through their work: create an activity, assign it, and review student responses.
You’ll see a new Home page, a simpler navigation system, and a clearer Assignments page designed to make those everyday steps easier to reach.
Home Is Now the Starting Point
When you log in to Speakable, the next step should feel obvious.
Home is now designed to be that starting point.
At the center of the page are three quick actions:
Create. Assign. Review.
These reflect the most common workflows teachers move through during the day.

Create
Creating an activity is now one click away.
From Home you can:
• Start a new activity
• Upload a document and turn it into an activity
• Ask AI to generate an activity for you
Instead of spending 20–30 minutes building an activity from scratch, teachers can now start with existing materials or generate a first draft in minutes.
The goal is not to change how teachers design learning.
It’s to make getting started faster.

Assign
Assigning activities is now more direct.
Previously, assigning often meant navigating through multiple steps: opening your library, previewing an activity, then selecting classes.
Now you can assign from anywhere in the platform.
Choose the activity.
Select your classrooms.
Set the dates.
Done.

Review
Review is also one click away from Home.
The Review quick action shows how many new submissions are waiting when you log in. From there, you can jump directly into the Assignments page to see where student work needs attention.
You no longer need to navigate between classrooms to locate submissions.
A Clearer Way to Navigate
Along with the new Home page, Speakable now uses a single sidebar navigation.
Previously, navigation could appear in different places depending on the page. That made it harder to build a clear mental model of where things lived.
Now the sidebar stays consistent across the platform.
Home anchors the experience, and core areas like:
- Assignments
- My Library
- Students
are always in the same place.
You’ll also see AI Studio and Benchmarks in the sidebar as upcoming features.
These tools are not live yet, but teachers can request early access as they become available.
The goal is simple: make navigation predictable so teachers can move faster without thinking about where things are.
A Dedicated Assignments Page
Assignments is now its own destination inside Speakable.
From this page, teachers can see work across all classrooms in one place.
You can:
• Track submissions and assignment progress
• Jump directly into review
• See which assignments need attention first
Two new insights also appear at the top of the page:
Instant feedback messages sent
A count of how many feedback responses students have received.
Estimated time saved
An estimate of grading time saved through Speakable’s feedback tools.
These metrics are designed to help teachers see the impact of the work they’re already doing.

Faster Grade Sync for Google Classroom
For teachers using Google Classroom, assignments now support bulk grade sync.
Instead of transferring grades individually, you can now sync them back to your Google Classroom gradebook in one step.
This helps reduce manual work and keeps gradebooks up to date more quickly.
What’s Coming Next
There are two new items in the sidebar: AI Studio and Benchmarks.
These features are still in development, but they’re starting to appear inside the platform as we prepare for early access.
AI Studio will help teachers generate activities, media, and classroom materials more quickly using AI.

Benchmarks will give programs a way to run proficiency checks and see where students are across a school or district.

Both features will be available through early access. Teachers can request access directly from the new Beta Features section in Settings.
More soon.
If you haven’t logged in recently, take a look at the new experience.
You’ll feel the difference.
Keep Practice, Assessment, and Growth Together
Language proficiency develops over time. Keep that progress visible every step of the way.
